Things are happening around here slowly but surely. We've been tackling some big and little projects over the last few weeks and sometimes it feels like it's never going to end. So, today I decided to add a couple more projects to the list by making a couple craigslist purchases!
First, I found this snazzy little mid-century dresser.
The drawers are covered in a latex paint that is Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-73128499755522409902013-05-19T15:08:00.000-05:002013-05-19T15:08:23.005-05:00Coming BackHello, all! I have (obviously) been on a loooong hiatus. I have to admit, I've hardly even looked at any home blogs over this past year. I just didn't have the energy to be inspired. Now, over the past month or so, I've been getting the itch again and I'm ready to come back.
First, I need to introduce you to Thomas.
He just turned one on April 23rd and is my favorite boy inAimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-83157996826091987412012-03-18T14:26:00.000-05:002012-03-18T14:26:59.099-05:00Nursery Update - Another Craigslist DresserHello, all! I hope everyone is getting to enjoy some fantastic early spring weather like we are here in North Dakota! We went to a St. Patrick's Day parade yesterday and it was almost 80 degrees! Who would have ever thought that you'd be able to wear shorts and a tank top on St. Patrick's Day in ND?
Anyway, we're plugging away on the nursery and this is our most recent project.
I love this Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-22562811402148378552012-03-03T22:17:00.000-06:002012-03-03T22:17:16.146-06:00Grosgrain Ribbon "Matting"Hello all! I'm so excited to show you my favorite element (so far) of the nursery. I showed you back here the prints I bought from etsy. I'm super happy with them but I bought them in 11x14 and my cheapo frames from IKEA were just slightly bigger than that. I had to come up with a solution to hide that fact.
Here you can see at the bottom of the frame where I had a little space. It was like Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-5366350461735260152012-02-26T21:32:00.000-06:002012-02-26T21:32:58.971-06:00St. Patrick's Day Potluck IdeaHey all! I was going through some old pictures on my phone and saw this one and thought I should share. A couple years ago my work department was having a St. Patrick's Day potluck with awards for the most creative Irish/St. Patty's Day themed food.
I wanted to do something quick and simple but still fun and creative. I did a general Google images search for St. Patrick's Day for some Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-51157812177556595442012-02-26T00:23:00.000-06:002012-02-26T00:23:16.068-06:00Design Plan - Laura's Renewed "Big Girl" RoomI've been wanting to re-do my daughter's bedroom for a while. When we moved in to this house I just kind of threw together something that sort of "worked" but I didn't put too much thought into it. I used leftover bright pink paint from our last house and put some pretty decals up on the wall.
Well, I've been asking her for a while now if I could change her bedroom and she's refused so far. Several months ago I tried a recipe for something (I don't remember what) but was so surprised when my concoction turned blue.
This was garlic sauteed in some olive oil, tossed with capers, lemon juice and white wine. I had NO idea but knew my husband wouldn't eat it so I threw it out.
Well, tonight I had a Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-26277282386017762402012-02-04T18:53:00.000-06:002012-02-04T18:53:52.061-06:00Design Plan - Baby Boy NurseryHello friends! I have been having so much fun collecting ideas for my little boy's bedroom. If you follow me on Pinterest, you have probably already seen my board full of ideas. I've gone back and forth with plans and was pretty sure I wanted a navy blue wall and chevron curtains but as soon as I saw this picture, I knew it was exactly what I was going for. Truth is, I'm so embarrassed that I haven't finished my Craigslist chairs that I've been too embarrassed to post anything. The problem is getting them covered.
Before I started taking them apart I thought they would be a breeze, based on my experience with my reading bench, which had a simple frame I was able to remove and Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-41737300151367425212011-12-07T12:01:00.002-06:002011-12-07T12:03:04.854-06:00Surprisingly AWESOME Christmas Decor! My mom sent me this image today from House Beautiful. I wasn't able to find a stapler that would work so I've been going crazy trying to come up with a good solution. I think I found one! Anyway, I'll be finishing these this week and I cannot wait to show you but for now, here is a little teaser :)
Oh yeah, I've also got my ultrasound Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-34298923161956508022011-10-31T09:39:00.000-05:002011-10-31T09:39:28.005-05:00Browsing TJ MaxxHello and happy Halloween! I was hoping to have my chairs finished and ready to show you today but I'm running into some issues with tools. I think I'm going to need to buy a special staple gun to be able to do the project right. The seats aren't on a frame like my bench. There's a channel going around the chair that the fabric needs to be stapled into and my staple gun isn't going to be able to Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-25627627750630325282011-10-25T08:29:00.000-05:002011-10-25T08:29:20.501-05:00Weekend Project - On HoldWell, I don't want to leave you all high and dry but my Craigslist chairs project is on hold. I've got them all painted and ready for new upholstery but I couldn't find what I wanted locally so I had to order the fabric online. You know how that is, you have something specific in mind and you just can't make anything else work out...
I can promise you this, these chairs are going to be FANTASTICAimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-42219770688849110122011-10-19T09:48:00.000-05:002011-10-19T09:48:31.571-05:00Weekend Project Sneak PeekI mentioned the other day that I was heading out to pick up something from Craigslist. Well, here is a teaser - a before pic from the seller:
You'll never guess how much I paid...$10. FOR THE PAIR!!!! These will be going in my upstairs living room. I still need to pick a fabric to reupholster them and a color to paint them. Here are some of my most recent thrifting finds.
I love this pretty painting. I love it but don't plan on keeping it the way it is. I'm going to paint the frame and use it on my gallery wall. I'm sorry I've been MIA and inconsistent for so long. I really do have a good excuse!
Baby #2 is on his or her way in April! I've been feeling so sick and exhausted...so totally different from my first pregnancy. A while back I showed you my favorite Summer pasta salad. Today I'll be showing you a recipe I love just as much and is even easier! (For that reason, I might just love it more!)
Here is what I use. First, I use packaged couscous. I like to buy the pre-seasoned variety (roasted garlic & olive oil here) because I love a lot of flavor but the plain is good too. Then, I use Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-49367645843810859262011-08-25T10:11:00.002-05:002011-09-07T14:33:06.150-05:00Adirondack Chair Before & AfterRemember here where I showed you the awesome deal I got on these Adirondack chairs? Well, I went ahead and gave them a simple makeover.
These chairs were SO faded...they just soaked up the paint. I ended up putting four coats on!
Anyhow, they turned out great! I love the crisp navy blue color.
They're a great addition and a nice lounge area for the deck. So, I realize there are about a million tutorials all over the blogosphere for these and I'm probably on the back side of the trend but I was so excited about these that I figured I'd share anyway.
I made two mirrors. I wanted one large and one small so I bought two different sizes of mirrors. The larger of the two was $1.49 and the smaller was $0.99. First, I want to apologize for my extended absence. This has been a crazy busy Summer and although I've gotten a couple projects done, I haven't had time to actually blog them. I will be better. I was so flattered by the comments I got about my bathroom re-do and I'm so excited to show you how I fixed up the builder grade bathroom mirror. I know so many of us have those and don't know what to do with them. I got the idea from Mirror Mate, a company that sells custom frames for boring mirrors. While they're great, I just didn't want to spend much money.

Here is my go-to dish for all those Summer parties. Trust me, this is about the easiest thing you can make!
Here is what I use. A package of tri-color rotini, a bottle of Italian dressing (I find that Wishbone has the best flavor), a red onion, some tomatoes (I prefer cherry tomatoes but Roma are so much less expensive), black olives, Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171805807588688166.post-36937778031495506602011-07-11T09:50:00.002-05:002011-08-25T21:32:47.804-05:00Craigslist Dresser...Done?Hello, all! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was pretty mellow...I started working on a couple sunburst mirrors. I would be done but it was SO hot and humid, I didn't want to go outside to paint them. So, hopefully today after work I will be able to get those done!
Today I'm going to show you a peek at my downstairs family room. This room is BAD. Disgusting. It has been severely Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17829573997286388515noreply@blogger.com7
